Skip is taking its entire fleet off from the streets of D.C. and Arlington today. This decision was based on the scooter fire incident in D.C. which went viral online. D.C. Department of Transportation has requested Skip to remove all scooters while they fully investigate the fire incident. Skip is asking its Rangers to keep the scooters until the investigation is completed. Here is the message from Skip.
Today a scooter in our DC fleet was discovered with an external battery fire. We believe the incident is isolated and doesn’t impact other scooters.
We’re taking our scooters off the road pending completion of the investigation and if you are willing, Skip needs your help picking them up tonight.
This will be a pickup, charge optional task with drop off TBD. We will update you with more information tomorrow morning.
Please hold onto scooters in your queue until further instruction. We have removed all drop zones for the time being.
Late penalties for scooters picked up today will not be charged.
